I need to take some new photos of the barn as we have cleaned it out a lot since these pictures were taken. The barn has been an ongoing project every since we purchased the property. As you can see we use the barn for storage. The barn had had very little maintenance previously and we have pretty much rebuilt it. It was a pig barn with the manure removal system running down the trench in the floor in the centre isle. We removed all of this and right now we have 3 X 12 planks in the trench for safety reasons. We had hoped at some time to pour some more concrete, filling in the trench and evening up the floor. Unfortunately one of the previous owners used to flood the barn in the winter time for an indoor skating rink and it did some damage to the cement floor and some of the foundation in the north end of the barn. We installed two centre isle ceiling beams the length of the barn for added support. We rebuilt the walls where needed due to water damage to the base plates and the bottoms of the studs. We have replaced all the sheeting on the exterior and interior of the barn. Because of the damage to the floor and the end foundation wall on the north end of the barn, we decided to take out the north end wall of the barn and use this space as a lean-to. We have shored up the northeast corner as it had dropped considerably. The beam system we put in is very adequate for supporting that end of the barn. It was our plan to remove the north end foundation cement that is badly broken up and then do some landscaping to improve the slope approaching the barn but unfortunately did not get this done. There are some local men with a back hoe that you could get to take care of this for you. | Barn: Ongoing rebuilding since 1998.
